Hey, has anyone here ever changed their front and rear differential fluid themselves? I’m thinking about doing it the subaru and just wondering how it went for you—was it pretty straightforward, or were there any tricky parts I should watch out for?

Yes, it's pretty straightforward. Just be mindful of the locations for the front differential drain fill and level check port.
Also be mindful whenever doing any kind of front and rear differential service or fluid change on your CVT always remove the fill ports first because if you can't remove those then you can't fill it.
The drain plug is a 70 torx
The fill check port is an 8 mm Allen style
The drain and level check port are on the bottom of the front differential.
The fill Port is on the passenger side just above the axle shaft. It is a 14 mm socket style.
The rear differential is 8 mm hex for the drain and fill.
Front differential takes approximately 1.5 quarts
The rear differential takes approximately .8 quarts.
Once you drain the front completely you'll put in the drain plug. Leave the level check, plug out and start filling through the fill Port just above the axle on the passenger side
Once the fluid starts to come out of the fill check port at the bottom you're full.
Rear differential is the same filling through the top until it dribbles out slightly.
Make sure vehicle is level as possible. That way you know you're getting all of it out and not overfilling it.
There are specific torque specs, but I just used the median 30 ft lb.
